MDI Football Falls to Mount Ararat 36-14 [PHOTOS/STATS]
The MDI Trojans fell to the Mount Ararat Eagles 36-14 at Alumni Field in Bar Harbor on Friday night, October 11th.
MDI scored on their opening drive, as Jaron Biekert took a handoff on a sweep and ran in from 43 yards out. The 2-point conversion was good, and the Trojans led 8-0.
But that was the lone score for the Trojans in the 1st Half, as Mount Ararat would scored 3 touchdowns before the 1st Half was over.
Dash Farrell took the opening handoff for Mt. Ararat and ran in from 58 yards out. With the 2-point conversion no-good, MDI led 8-6 with 9:44 left int he 1st Quarter.
Mt. Ararat scored on their next possession. This time Nick Doughty scored from 1 yard out. The 2-point conversion was good, and the Eagles led 14-8 with 5:15 left in the 1st Quarter.
With 45.9 seconds left in the 1st Quarter Farrell broke another long run for a touchdown, this time from 56 yards out. The 2-point conversion was good and Mt. Ararat led 22-8.
In the 3rd Quarter Farrell scored his 3rd touchdown of the game, running in from 2 yards out. The 2-point conversion was good, and Mt. Ararat led 30-8 with 4:53 left in the 3rd Quarter.
In the 4th Quarter, with many starters out, D'Angelo Pearson scored for the Eagles, rushing in from 12 yards out. The 2-point conversion was no good and Mt. Ararat led 36-8.
After a 70 yard kickoff return by Izak Beal, MDI took over 1st and goal on the Eagle 9 yard line. With 2:40 left to play, Kenneth Stillwell scored for MDI on a 3 yard run. The 2-point conversion failed, to make the final score 36-14.
MDI is now 3-3 and will host Camden Hills on Friday, October 18th. That game will start at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on our free downloadable APP, on any Alexa enabled device and on WDEA Internet Radio.
Mount Ararat is 5-1 and will host Greely on Saturday, October 19th at 12 noon.
