The MDI Trojan Football Team fell to the Dexter Tigers on Alumni Field in Bar Harbor on Friday night, September 27th.

Dexter won the opening coin toss and elected to defer, kicking off and MDI took the opening kickoff back to the 33 yard line. After getting a 1st down, the Trojans were forced to punt.

Dexter fielded the punt and fumbled, with Sam Mitchell recovering on the Dexter16 yard line with 10:05 remaining in the 1st Quarter. The Trojans weren't able to get the 1st down or score, and turned the ball over on downs.

Dexter took over on their own 10 yard line with 8:54 remaining in the 1st Quarter. The Tigers effectively moved the ball the length of the field, with Cameron Paige scoring on a 31 yard run. The drive took 10 plays and ate up 5:39. Gage Stone kicked the point after, and the Tigers led 7-0

MDI returned the kick to their 41 yard line, but were supposed to punt, going 3 plays and out.

Dexter took over on their own 17 yard line with 1:45 remaining in the 1st Quarter. 8 plays later, the Tigers punted and MDI took over on their own 32 yard line with 10:12 left in the 1st Half.

MDI effectively moved the ball down the field, but the drive stopped on the Dexter 11 yard line, when MDI turned the ball over on downs. The MDI drive took 14 plays and 6:11 but their frustration continued

Dexter took over and MDI's defense forced another Tiger punt. After the punt, MDI took over at the Dexter 44 yard line with 2:15 remaining in the 1st Half.

Will Hodgon's pass was picked off on the 1st play of the drive, and Cameron Paige returned the interception 60 yards for a pick-6. Stone's kick was good, and Dexter led MDI 14-0with 2:02 remaining in the 1st Half.

Hodgdon was picked off again and Dexter took over at their own 44 yard line with 1:36 remaining in the 1st Half. Logan Perkins' pass was picked off by Alex Fernald, and MDI had the ball with 1:20 left in the Half.

MDI was forced to punt and Dexter took over at the MDI 31. A roughing the passer penalty gave Dexter a chance at a field goal as time expired, but Stone's kick was no good, and at the end of the 1st Half, Dexter led 14-0

Dexter took the 2nd half kickoff and turned the ball over on downs and MDI took over on their own 24 yard line.

The Trojans brought the ball down to the Dexter 30 yard line, on an 11 play drive. But again, after using 5:14 the Trojans were unable to punch the ball into the end zone.

Taking over on their own 26 yard line, Dexter needed just 3 plays and 1:18 before Ponte Perkins ran in from 21 yards out. Stone's point after kick was good, and the Tigers led 21-0.

Hunter Gray fielded the kickoff at his own 15 yard line and rambled 85 yards, for MDI's 1st score. The 2 point conversion was no good, and Dexter led 21-6 with 1:06 remaining in the 3rd Quarter.

Dexter answered on the next drive, scoring on a 7 play drive that took 2:56. Quarterback Logan Perkins scored from 3 yards out. Stone's point after kick was good and Dexter led 28-6.

MDI turned the ball over on downs, and Dexter took over on their own 49 yard line. 1 play later, Parker Ponte ran the ball in for a 51 yard touchdown. The point after kick was good, and Dexter led 35-6. with 7:39 remaining.

Another MDI turnover on downs led to the final touchdown of the night. Avery Gagnon picked up a loose snap and ran in from 13 yards out for the touchdown. The point after attempt was no good.and Dexter led 41-6.

MDI is now 1-3 and will travel to Waterville on Friday, October 4th. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device. The pregame will begin at 6:40 with the kickoff at 7PM

Dexter is 3-1 and plays host to Washington Academy on Saturday, October 5th at 1PM.
