MDI Beats Yarmouth 22-14 [STATS]

The bruised and battered MDI Trojans Football Team beat the Yarmouth Clippers 22-14 on Friday night, September 20th in Yarmouth.

The Trojans were without a few starters and proceeded to lose more starters on the offense and defense throughout the night.

MDI scored on their 1st possessions in the 1st Half.

The 1st score came with 7:18 left in the 1st Quarter when Nate Olson ran in from 1 yard out. The drive started on a Yarmouth punt and took 2:49. The 2-point conversion was good, and MDI led 6-0.

After Yarmouth turned the ball over on downs, MDI took over at midfield with 4:54 left in the 1st Quarter. It took just 1 play and 10 seconds for the Trojans to find the end zone again, with Lincoln Gray scoring on a 50 yard run. The time the 2-point conversion was good, and MDI led 14-0, with 4:44 left in the 1st Quarter.

The MDI defense forced a Yarmouth fumble and the Trojans took over on their own 34 yard line MDI proceeded to score again, this time with freshman Kenneth Stillwell scoring his 1st touchdown, running in from 1 yard out. The drive took 6:13 and with the 2-point conversion good, MDI led 22-0 with 6:32 left in the 1st Half.

Yarmouth scored with 2:08 remaining in the Half, when Jack Flannagan connected on a 14 yard pass to Adam Pelotte. The 2-point conversion failed, and MDI led 22-6 at the end of the 1st Half.

The score remained 22-6 through the 3rd Quarter and until there was 15.3 seconds left in the game. Yarmouth's Flannagan and Pelotte connected again, this time on a 16 yard pass for the Clipper's 2nd touchdown of the game. The 2-point conversion was good and that made the score 22-14

Yarmouth attempted an onside-kick, but the Trojans recovered and Quarterback Alister Frongillo took a knee for the Trojan's win.

MDI is now 2-1. They will host Morse on Friday, September 27th at 6 p.m. That game will be broadcast on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Yarmouth is now 0-3. They will host Greely on Friday, September 27th at 7 p.m.
