The MDI Baseball Team scored 6 runs in the top of the 1st inning and held off the Foxcroft Academy Ponies 12-9 in Dover-Foxcroft on Friday, May 29th.

Playing their 3rd game in 3 days, the Trojans sent out sophomore Tyler Mace to the mound to start the game. He pitched 4.0 innings allowing 5 hits and 6 runs, striking out 2 and walking 5, to pick up the in. Preston Tripp picked up the save, pitching the final 3.0 innings. and allowing 2 hits and 3 runs, all unearned. He struck out 4 and walked 2.

Cameron Graham led the Trojans at the plate. He was 3-5 with a double and drove in 4 runs.

Colin Sullivan was 2-4 with a double. Spencer Grierson was 2-4 with a par of runs driven in. Preston Tripp, Eli Macdonnell, Garrett Umphrey and Mason Lapointe each had a single.

MDI stole 7 bases, with Lapointe leading the way with 3 stolen bases. Graham, Alex Roo, Graham, Sullivan and Tripp each had a stolen base.

Michael Kinney started on the mound for the Ponies. He went 4.2 innings, allowing 9 hits and 8 runs, 5 of them earned. He struck out 1. Griffin Caruso pitched 1.2 innings allowing 3 hits and 4 runs, walking 2 and striking out 1. Aiden Harvey retired the final 2 batters.

Owen White was 2-4 with a double and drove in 2 runs to lead the Ponies' offense. Kinney, Cam Rounds, Harvey, Evan Seavey and Jaedon Haack each singled for Foxcroft Academy

Foxcroft Academy had 6 stolen bases. Harvey and Brody Arcano each had 2 stolen bases. Kinney and Thomas Day each had 1 stolen base.

MDI is now 10-4. They have 2 games remaining in the regular season. They play at 4:30 p.m. at home against Bucksport on Monday, and then close out the regular season at Ellsworth on June 2nd  at 4:30 p.m.

Foxcroft Academy is 3-12 . They close out the regular season at Husson against John Bapst at 4 p.m.
