Congratulations to Matt Haney, who has been named the next principal of MDI High School. He will replace Dr. Matthew Janger who is moving to Arlington, Massachusetts at the end of the school year. Haney had been the Assistant Principal at MDI High School since 2005 and in January 2013 his job title was shifted to Dean of Curriculum.

In talking with Matt Haney this morning he stated:

"I am extremely excited and humbled to have been appointed as Principal at MDI High School.  After eight years as Assistant Principal at this wonderful institution, it will be my good fortune to continue on as its leader in an fascinating and dynamic time in education.  Over the next several years we will work to evolve our school system toward a proficiency based model, which will ensure every student will have his or her individual needs met and that they leave high school prepared for life.  The greatest asset at our school is our wonderful staff and student body.  They make it a pleasure to come to work every day.  I am privileged to reside in Somesville with my wife Maegan and children Jay and Seneca.  We all thoroughly enjoy all that Acadia National Park has to offer, all seasons of the year.   I consider myself somewhat of a local, having grown up in Orland, attended high school at George Stevens Academy in Blue HIll, and received my bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Maine.  I would like to thank all the well wishers and look forward to working with everyone in this great community for years to come.  Finally, I would like to wish Dr. Matthew Janger the best of luck as he continues his career in Massachusetts.  I continue to learn from him every day and will miss his company.  Thanks again and I welcome anyone who wishes to call, email, or stop by.  I look forward to seeing you."
