Adams, Strid (Maine Dept. of Public Safety)

Another resident of New York is facing drug charges in Maine, along with a Maine man. The pair were arrested after getting lost, and finding themselves at the Canadian border.

Investigators from MDEA's Aroostook County Task Force responded early last Friday morning, May 8th, to the U.S. Customs Port of Entry in Houlton. At this location, U.S. Customs officials turned two men over to them who apparently got lost after they neglected to exit I-95 in Houlton on their way to Presque Isle.

The man from the Bronx, NY was found to be in possession of a substantial amount of crack cocaine and prescription oxycodone. The other, from Fort Fairfield, Maine was in possession of a small amount of heroin. An investigation determined that the drugs were meant for distribution in Central Aroostook County. More arrests are possible.

Arrested on Friday were:

  • Kenneth Adams, age 30 of the Bronx, New York - found to be in possession of nearly 200 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $20,000, 160 oxycodone (30 mg) tablets with a street vlue of $6,500, and 30 grams of powder cocaine with a street value of $3,000. Also seized from Adams was $4,500 in cash, which was suspected to be the proceeds from illegal drug sales. He's charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Cocaine Base, Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Cocaine HCL, and Class A Trafficking in Oxycodone. He was taken to Aroostook County Jail, where he remains pending $25,000 cash bail.
  • Scott Strid, age 34 from Fort Fairfield, Maine - charged with Class C Felony possession of a schedule W drug after he was found in possession of approximately one gram of heroin. He was also take to Aroostook County Jail, on $500 cash bail.
