Maine DOT Begins Overnight Work in Ellsworth Area
Maine Department of Transportation workers are beginning an overnight work project along Routes 1, 1A and 3 in Ellsworth that will continue through approximately August. Work will take place nightly 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Areas being worked on include
- State Street (Near the Downeast Family YMCA)
- Oak Street (Between Church and Main Streets)
- High Street (Ending near Pat's Pizza)
- Myrick Street
- Downeast Highway (Ending near Darling's)
The project will begin near the Downeast Family YMCA on State Street and progress south in phases. The 1st phase involves lowering structures, such as manholes, along the routes. This may cause temporary nighttime noise in each area. The 2nd phase will involve grinding the roadway followed by paving.
Please be mindful of construction workers in the roadway at night, and give them as much room as possible when driving through the construction areas.
