Keep the champagne on ice for at least another day! Despite the fact that the Red Sox pitchers limited the New York Yankees to just 3 hits on Tuesday, September 18th, the Boston Red Sox lost to the New York Yankees 3-1.
Nathan Eovaldi pitched 6 innings for the Red Sox, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 5 and walking 2. The bullpen allowed 1 hit, but it proved to be costly, a 3 run homer to Gabe Walker in the 7th inning
The Red Sox made it interesting in the top of the 9th inning, scoring 1 run on 2 errors and having the tying and go ahead run on base before Ian Kinsler grounded into a double play.
