Mattanawcook Academy Hands Washington Academy 1st Loss of the Season 5-3

The Mattanawcook Academy Lynx scored 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning to hand Washington Academy their 1st loss of the season, 5-3 in East Machias on Monday, June 1st.

The Mattanawcook Academy win avenged Washington Academy's 4-0 win in Lincoln on May 18th.

James Welch started for the Raiders on the mound. He went 5.2 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 run, striking out 5 and walking 1. Trevor Shimabukuro took the loss. He pitched 1.1 innings allowing 3 hits and 4 runs, striking out 3 and walking 1.

Isaac Ritchie picked up the win for the Lynx, pitching a complete game. The junior struck out 7 and walked 2, allowing 4 hits and 3 runs, 2 of which were earned.

Cameron Thompson was 2-2 for Mattanawcook Academy, driving in a run. Avery Jordan had the big hit for the Lynx, with a double driving in 3 runs. Ritchie, Tyler Mahaney, Noah Phelps and Jacoby Savage all singled.

Colby Moholland homered for the Raiders. James Welch, Jayden Mahar and George Welch each singled for Washington Academy.

The win by the Lynx puts them in 1st place in the Class C North Heal Point Standings with 1 game to play.

Mattanawcook Academy is now 12-3. They will play at Houlton on Wednesday, June 3rd at 4:30 p.m.

Washington Academy is now 14-1. They will host Narraguagus on Wednesday, June 3rd at 4:30 p.m.
