GoFundMe Established for Nathaniel and Kirsten Snow after “More Miss Chif” Caught Fire in Bass Harbor

The Tremont Volunteer Fire Department was toned out at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday July 3rd and responded to a commercial lobster boat, the "More Miss Chif" that was on fire. The boat was moored in Bass Harbor.

When the firefighters arrived the fire had spread from the stern and consumed the pilot house, with fuel and hydraulic tanks violently rupturing. Using their thermal cameras, the Tremont Fire Department recorded temperatures exceeding 1200 degrees.

The US Coast Guard, Maine Marine Patrol and Southwest Harbor Fired Departments, as well as the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, Clean Harbors and Maine Department of Marine Resources all responded.

Unfortunately the "More Miss Chif" was totally destroyed, but luckily there were no other boats damaged, nor a risk to the water quality where live lobsters are held by commercial lobstermen.
