I have said it countless times, and it continues to be true...That the people of Downeast Maine are some of the most generous around, and that Mainers take care of Mainers and those that they love!

This Thursday night, October 3rd, the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry and Darling's Chevrolet will hold "Lap 2" of the pantry's major 2024 fundraiser, Darling's Drives Out Hunger. The event will be held at Darling's Chevrolet in Ellsworth and will feature live and silent auction items, raffles, live music, cash bar and heavy hors d'oeuvres.

Loaves and Fishes is counting on the auction and celebration to help raise operating funds, build and nourish community partnerships and spread the word about the Pantry's mission.

The event will run from 5-7 p.m. Tickets are $85 and available HERE or at the Pantry during operating hours.

According to Board Co-President Clyde Cushing "Loaves and Fishes is volunteer-driven and relies on the generosity of the community to continue helping our neighbors in need. We currently have over 2,000 families on our roster, up from 750 in 2022."

Cushing explained that the Pantry has operating expenses of $1200 a day and that $225,000 is budgeted for food purchases alone this year.
