Principal Matt Haney  and Dean of Curriculum Julie Keblinsky have sent a letter to all MDI High School Students and Parents regarding the pilot on Wednesday, March 18th of the remote learning platform.

Dear parents and students,

Our teachers have been working very hard to prepare and carry out remote learning for our students. Our primary goal will be to reconnect our student body and keep our MDIHS community strong. Students should have received emails from their teachers yesterday. Please ask them to check their emails daily to be sure they are receiving all the needed communication.

After taking the steps that we’ve needed to in support of public safety our secondary goal will be to do our best to prevent a learning slide, hold the course, and keep classes moving forward. We aim to pilot our remote learning platform with everyone this Wednesday with Advisory and we ask for your help to be sure your student participates. The schedule follows:

  1. 9 a.m. Freshman
  2. 10 a.m. Sophomores
  3. 11 a.m. Juniors
  4. Noon Seniors

Students will be receiving a Google Hangout Meets invitation in their school email.  At the time scheduled, please have your student either (1.) click on the “Join Hangouts Meet” link or (2.) call the phone number given using a cell phone or landline and type in the given pin number. The former will give your students full access to screen sharing and face-to-face participation. The latter will still give your students full audio access to the meeting. Here is a link with more information:

Advisors will host a short meeting aimed at checking-in, seeing how the platform works, and getting some information from their students (Do they have internet access? Do they need other supports? etc.)

Afterward, we will evaluate the pilot and determine the next steps. We will communicate this information to everyone as soon as the plan is worked out. We are moving quite swiftly and thank you for your patience as we work through one of the greatest challenges of our educational careers. Together, we will get through this.
