July 7 – Macaroni Day
Today is National Macaroni Day! There are a number of ways to celebrate!
1. Break out a box of Kraft Mac 'N Cheese. Better yet, let your child make his or her own lunch today. I think back to when my children were younger, so many years ago, and I remember that was one of the first meals they made by themselves. Just watch out and make sure they get all the orange cheese powder in the saucepan otherwise you'll be cleaning it up for weeks!
2. Make some cold Macaroni salad. There's nothing better than on a hot day than cold macaroni salad. Cook the macaroni noodles, then cool them down. Add some mayonnaise, chopped celery and onion and a little yellow mustard. Season to taste and keep chilled in the fridge!
3. How about making a macaroni necklace with your child? This is always a great rainy day activity! Just get a box of macaroni noodles and a long piece of string or yarn. Let them thread the string or yarn through the noodles and when done tie the ends together! Voila an instant necklace! Want to get fancy? You can even spray paint the noodles. Wear it proudly!
