Jaffray Scores 1000th Point on a 3-pointer, Ellsworth Beats Presque Isle 77-23 [STATS]

Junior Grace Jaffray became just the 3rd member of the Ellsworth High School Girl's Basketball Team to join the 1000th point club, and she did it in style! Taking a pass from Lily Bean, Jaffray drained a 3-pointer for her 998th, 999th and 1000th point of her career on Friday night, January 26th.

Ellsworth beat Presque Isle 77-23 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in a game broadcast on Ticket TV.

The other girls scoring 1000 points during their Ellsworth High School career include Lynne Wescott in 1988 and Trinity Montigny in 2020.

There have been 10 boys scoring 1000 points as an Eagle. They include John Edes and Jack Scott in 1954, Dick Scott in 1981, Tim Scott in 1988, Nick Johnston in 1999, Corey Dewitt in 2007, Jackson Curtis in 2020, Hunter Curtis in 2022 and Chance Mercier in 2023. 

Ellsworth jumped out to a 14-4 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter, and then put the game away in the 2nd Quarter, outscoring Presque Isle 24-0 to take a 38-4 lead at the Half. Ellsworth led 53-15 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

The Eagles were led by Jaffray who finished with 17 points. Abby Radel had 17 points and Elizabeth Boles had 12 points. The Eagles drained 14 3-pointers in the game. Jaffray had 5 3's, and Boles had 4 3's. Elise Sargent had 2 3-pointers. Radel, Sydney Mason and Lily Bean each had 1 3-pointer. Ellsworth was 11-16 from the free throw line.

Presque Isle was led by Georganna Curtis with 6 points while Marion Young and Addison Clairmont each had 5 points. Maddy Putnam had a 3-pointer. The Wildcats were 2-7 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 15-0 and will host Caribou on Saturday, January 27th at 1 p.m. That game will be live-streamed for FREE on Ticket TV.
