I've lived in Maine my whole life.

Most of us have. I've also been eating lobster my whole life. I've never really understood Mainers who don't. I mean, I get that everybody likes what they like, and won't eat what they don't. If I think about it too long, even I can get a little wigged out about eating lobsters. After all, they really do just look like a water-breathing scorpion.

Often, I've messed around with lobster's claws while waiting for the water to boil. I've posed them, I've put things in their claws as a joke... But one thing I've never stuck in their claws, is my finger. From a very early age, I was taught that it's just a fool's errand to tempt that kind of fate.

But admit it... secretly you've wondered. Is it that bad? Does it actually hurt? Are they that strong? If you really want to know, just stick the handle of a spoon or fork into it's claw. You'll discover you can pick that bug up and practically swing it around your head. Or, do what this guy Coyote Peterson did in this YouTube video below.

Who's Coyote Peterson?

If you've never seen him do his thing, he's a famous YouTuber who makes his living hurting himself with animals/insects. He gets stung by bees, bitten by snakes, and in this case, pinched by a lobster. I watched a few of his other videos as well, and the guy really seems to have a low-key death wish. Or is a bizarre masochist at the very least.

The whole episode is about half an hour, and is actually a pretty good watch. But if you wanna get to the good stuff, skip to the 21:00 minute mark. He made a couple of previous attempts in the video, but wasn't getting the action he was looking for. He surmises it's because the other lobsters were too warm.

For the big pinch, he heads to a lobster pound where the water is super cold and well circulated. When he tempts fate in this spot, he gets what he's after and it looks stunningly brutal.

His face says it all, and the damage the claws inflict (he gets pinched by both) looks superficial on the outside, but you know it was crazy. Check out the video...

I bet a bunch of these restaurants will let you get revenge on a mess of lobsters in honor of Coyote taking one for the team...
