‘Sarah’s House Of Maine’ Aims For $40K In 40 Days To Celebrate Her 40th
Milestones are important.
This year, folks at Sarah's House, a Cancer Hospitality Center in Eastern Maine, have decided to honor the legacy of the woman who inspired their mission, in celebration of what would have been her 40th birthday.
They have set a goal to raise $40-thousand dollars in 40 days to coincide with the special milestone. (If you'd like to donate, just click here!)
All of the money will go towards their $1.6 million dollar "Elevated" campaign, an effort to expand the ADA accessibility of the property, by creating four ADA-compliant rooms, installing an elevator to the second floor, enclosing a fire escape, and constructing a new outbuilding.
Sarah's Story
Sarah Robinson was a vivacious, service-oriented woman who grew up in Dexter and moved to Old Town when she got married. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. With the love and support of her extended family, husband, and daughter, she came up with the idea of building a cancer hospitality house while she was going through treatment for the disease herself. The concept was to create a place where people who had to travel great distances to the Lafayette Cancer Center in Brewer, could come and stay closer to the facility with their caregivers during that time.
Sadly, Sarah passed away in December 2011, but her family and supporters continued to work to make her vision a reality, and Sarah's House opened at 346 Main Rd. in Holden in 2014. Since then, it has provided services for over 700 rural cancer patients receiving care in the area.

"Celebrating Sarah’s 40th Birthday with a $40K Fundraiser for Sarah’s House
Starting April 4th, we invite the community to join us in celebrating what would have been Sarah Robinson’s 40th birthday by raising $40,000 in her memory to ignite our Elevated Campaign...Supporters can participate by pledging $40 per month for a year, a one-time gift of $40, or a gift of any other amount!"
"She believed that no one should face cancer alone and she made it her mission to create a place of refuge for those battling cancer. Today we celebrate what would have been Sarah’s 40th birthday by raising this money to continue her legacy at Sarah’s House of Maine!” said Lindsay Holmstrom, President of the Board of Directors and Sarah’s twin sister.
A link will be set up to launch on April 4th for people who want to donate online. You can also reach out directly to Sarah's House by calling (207) 989-1683.
