Forecasters are predicting highs in the upper 90s in Bangor, Maine, on Tuesday, which would set a new record for June 24 in The Queen City.
As of 11 p.m. Monday, June 23, the National Weather Service was predicting a high of 97 degrees for Bangor on Tuesday.
The Weather Service predicted heat index values as high as 107.
The high temperatures led to an Extreme Heat Warning, which the Weather Service issued for parts of Washington, Hancock, Penobscot, Oxford, Franklin, Somerset, York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Kennebec, and Waldo Counties.
The warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

According to Extreme Weather Watch, the record high temperature for June 24 in Bangor is 93, which was first recorded in 1938 and then matched in 1963, 1975, and 1995.
With the National Weather Service predicting a high of 97 in Bangor on Tuesday, there's a great chance Bangor will set a new record for the day.
In addition to Bangor, other Maine cities could hit record highs on Tuesday as well.

That includes Augusta, where the high for Tuesday is also expected to be 97, according to the Weather Service.
In Maine's capital city, the record high for June 24 is also 93, according to Extreme Weather Watch.
Forecasters say temperatures in Maine on Tuesday will be dangerously high.
The National Weather Service says heat-related illnesses increase significantly during times of extreme heat and high humidity.

Due to the heat, people are being advised to drink plenty of water on Tuesday.
Mainers are also urged to stay out of the sun and stay in air-conditioned rooms when possible.
