The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for much of Maine, including Bangor.

The warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24.

The weather service says, "Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 107 are expected."

The NWS office in Caribou issued the warning for parts of Washington, Hancock, and Penobscot Counties.

Meanwhile, the weather office in Gray issued the same warning for parts of Oxford, Franklin, Somerset, York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Kennebec, and Waldo Counties.

What is the forecast for Bangor, Maine, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025?

Forecasters say it will be hot and sunny in Bangor with a high of near 97.

Isolated showers are possible between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., and then isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible after 5 p.m. Wind gusts could reach 20 mph.

Forecasters say heat-related illnesses increase significantly during times of extreme heat and high humidity.

Mainers are urged to drink lots of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun when possible.

The weather service says if you do go outside, try to wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothes, and limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours.

Residents are also encouraged to check up on relatives and neighbors.
