If You’re An Artist Who Paints, Bucksport Wants You.

I admit it. I don't have an artistic bone in my body. I mean, sure... I can play drums and make music with friends, but I can't draw, paint, sculpt, etc. I've always wanted to, but I never had the patience to put the time in. It's the same reason I don't like to bake. It takes patience and commitment.

Obviously, I'm in no danger of being hired to paint anything other than a white picket fence, but the town of Bucksport is looking to hire some local artists to paint some colorful mural on the sides of four local businesses, as part of a project they've been looking to get off the ground for a while, but then COVID-19 happened.

Originally the whole thing project was to coincide with the city's annual art festival, but like most things in the age of coronavirus, the art festival was canceled. But the town felt that following through on the murals was a great idea, and the timing couldn't be better in a lot of ways, despite their initial plans.

Brook Minner, the executive director for Main Street Bucksport said this to Fox Bangor:

It’s sort of a perfect project in many ways for this moment. We applied for this grant before we had ever heard of the coronavirus but now here we are.... I think that people need something to feel good about. Something to cheer them up and I think seeing the murals come to life will be a feel food project for the community.
