Hunter Curtis Homers but Acadians Fall to Troy Post 13-3 in Opening Game of the American Legion World Series
It wasn't the beginning game we all hoped for after the Trenton Acadians' magical run through the Northeast American Legion Regional Championship. The Acadians lost to defending champions Troy Post 13-3 on Thursday evening in their opening game.
The Acadians were held to just 5 hits, but Hunter Curtis, a former Ellsworth Eagle and rising sophomore at Husson University blasted a 2-run homer in the 5th inning.
David Baugh, AJ Lozano and Dawson Curtis each had a single.
The Acadians pitching staff suffered from "the walks" as they issued 15 walks in the game
Troy Post took advantage and scored 8 runs in the 5th inning.
The Acadians used 6 pitchers in the game. Craig Burnett went 4.1 innings. Brayden King didn't record an out in the 5th. Peter Keblinsky recorded the final 2 outs in the 5th inning. Colin Sullivan pitched 1.1 innings. Dawson Curtis recorded the 2nd out in the 7th inning and Miles Palmer the final out of the 7th.
The Acadians are back at it Friday afternoon, when they play Cheyenne, Wyoming at 4p.m. Friday's game is on ESPN3.
