How to Dispose of Your Christmas Tree Properly in Bar Harbor and Ellsworth
If you had a live Christmas Tree in your house you are faced with the question of how to dispose of it properly. If you live in Bar Harbor or Ellsworth, here's what to do...
If you have a large piece of property, you can always toss it out in the "back 40" and small animals will appreciate the shelter. However, if that's not an option and you live in Bar Harbor, you can dispose of your tree for free. Trees may be dropped off at the Bar Harbor Public Works building on the Crooked Road Monday through Friday 7AM to 4PM. Trees also may be dropped off at the Transfer Station, located at 8 White Spruce Road Monday through Friday 8AM to 3:45PM and on Saturday morning from 8AM to 11:45AM.
If you live in Ellsworth, trees may be taken to DM&J Waste at 15 Industrial Road in Ellsworth, located behind the Ellsworth Transfer Station. The facility in Ellsworth is open Monday through Friday 7AM to 4PM and on Saturday from 8AM to 12Noon. There may be a $5.00 fee to dispose of your Christmas tree.
