Hermon Beats MDI 58-49 Hitting Crucial Free Throws in the 4th Quarter [STATS]

The Hermon Hawks beat the MDI Trojans on Wednesday night, January 28th 58-49 as the Hawks hit crucial free throws in the 4th Quarter.

Hermon led 14-12 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 28-28 at the end of the 1st Half. The Hawks led 39-34 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Forced to foul as the Hawks were very deliberate with the ball in the 4th Quarter, Hermon went 10-14 from the free throw line to come away with the win and hand MDI their 2nd loss of the season.

The Hawks double-teamed James Witham most of the evening every time he had the ball, and the 1000-point scorer was held to just 13 points, with 9 of them coming in the 4th Quarrer. Kenneth Stillwell had 12 points with  a pair of 3-pointers He also ripped down 11 rebounds to end the game with a double-double.. Lincoln Gray had 8 points. Preston Tripp, Witham and Dylan Stoll each had a 3-pointer. MDI was 4-5 from the free throw line.

Hermon was led by Tyler Corson who finished with a game-high 20 points including 3 3-pointers. Carter Wiggin had 14 points, going 6-7 from the free throw line in the 4th Quarter. Brody Hurd had 12 points. The Hawks were 13-19 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 14-2 and in 4th place in the Class B North Heal Point Standings. They play at home against John Bapst on Friday night, January 30th at 7 p.m. on Senior Recognition Night, and then end the regular season at Ellsworth on Wednesday, February 4th. Hermon is now 14-2 and in 1st place in the Class B North Heal Point Standings. They play at home against Presque Isle on Saturday, January 31st and then close out the season at the Cross Insurance Center with John Bapst on Tuesday, February 3rd.
