GSA Wins Battle of Eagles 75-44

The George Stevens Academy Eagles beat the Ellsworth Eagles 75-44 in the Battle of Eagles in Blue Hill on Friday, February 3rd.

GSA jumped out to a 21-11 in the 1st Quarter as Jarrod Chase had 10 points including 2 3-pointers. Taylor Schildroth had 4 points, Percy Zentz had 3 points and Max Mattson and Stefan Simmons had 2 points each for GSA. For Ellsworth Zach Harris had 7 points including a 3-pointer and Bryce Harmon had 4 points for Ellsworth.

In the 2nd Quarter, GSA extended their lead to 21 points points, 39-18 as Taylor Schildroth had 13 points, including 3 3-pointers. Reece Donnenberg had a 3-pointer and Jarrod Chase had 2 points for GSA. For Ellsworth Bradly Smith had a 3-pointer, Bryce Harmon had 2 points and Jackson Curtis went 2-2 from the free throw line.

In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth outscored GSA 18-13 but trailed 52-36. In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth's Bryce Harmon had 8 points with 2 3-pointes. Jared Hamilton had 4 points and Dylan Taplin and Zach Harris each had a 3-pointer for Ellsworth. For GSA Schildroth had 8 points with 2 more 3-pointers. Max Mattson had 4 points and Stefan Simmons had 1 point.

In the 4th Quarter Schildroth had 7 more points for GSA. Chase had 6 points, Beckett Slayton had a 3-pointer, and Steven Wang, Max Mattson and Percy Zentz had 2 points each. Simmons was 1-2 from the free throw line for GSA. For Ellsworth Zach Harris, Trent Mahon, Sam Giffin and Bryce Harmon each chipped in 2 points.

Ellsworth was led by Bryce Harmon with 16 points, while Zach Harris had 12 points. Ellsworth was 4-4 from the free throw line.

GSA was led by Taylor Schildroth with a game high 32 points. Jarrod Chase had 18 points. GSA was 12-15 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 8-8 with 2 games remaining. The Eagles play host to John Bapst on Tuesday, February 7th at 7 PM and close out the season at home on Senior Recognition Nigh on Thursday, February 97th at 7 PM. Both games will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

GSA remains unbeaten at 17-0. GSA closes out the season at home on Thursday February 9th against Narraguagus.
