Grindle 4-Under Par Leads Maine Amateur [SCORES]
Former Deer Isle-Stonington High School golfer Sam Grindle has the lead after day one of the Maine Amateur Championship. Grindle fired a 4-under par 68 at the Brunswick Golf Course.
Grindle completed in sophomore year with the golf team at Rollilns College in Florida. He won the Class C high school championship while playing at Deer Isle-Stonington.
His round at Brunswick on Tuesday included four birdies and 14 pars.
Several players are right on his heels heading into to round two today. Portland's Jack Wyman leads a four-player pack just one shot back at 3-under par.
Three-time champ Ricky Jones is even par after the first round. 13-time champion Mark Plummer is 2-over par.
