Former Trojan Megan Howell Wins Symphonic Band’s Concerto Competition
Congratulations to former MDI Trojan, Megan Howell, who won the UMaine Symphonic Band's concerto competition. Howell graduated in 2017 and is studying for a double major in Music Education and Flute Performance

According to Megan, each year the Symphonic Band has a competition to see who will be their featured soloist for the season. The audition is open to the entire 50 piece Symphonic Band. This year Megan won, beating 6 other talented musicians from the group.
As the featurerd soloist she will be featured in every concert on their recruitment tour in April, as well as during their Spring Concert on April 23rd, and at the MMEA (Maine Music Educator’s Association) conference and All State Festival in May.
She will be performing Fantasie Pastorale Hongroise, Op. 26 by Franz Doppler (1821-1883).
