Former Trojan Matt Perconti Picks Up 1st Win of the Season for Wentworth
Former MDI Trojan Matt Perconti had a great start to the 2020 season for Wentworth College as the Cougars beat Martin Luther 3-1 on Monday, March 9th. Perconti, making his 1st start of the season on the mound picked up the win.
Perconti, a sophomore, pitched a complete game, throwing 7 innings, striking out 5 and walking 2. He scattered 7 hits and allowed just 1 run, which was unearned.
Perconti picked off 2 runners from 1st, On a sacrifice bunt attempt, he made a diving catch of a popup and doubled the lead runner off 2nd base after there were runners on 1st and 2nd.
Perconti finished his freshman year with a record of 2-4 starting 6 games with a ERA of 5.40 pitching 33.1 innings.
