Former Trojan Emma Forthofer Wins Best Short Documentary – Los Angeles Film Awards [VIDEO]
Emma Forthofer graduated from MDI High School in 2017 and headed off to school at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Her short documentary "A Fifth Season” released today, November 11th has won Best Short Documentary from the Los Angeles Film Awards, and Best Documentary from Loyola Marymount University for the School of Film and Television Awards.
A Fifth Season is a short documentary that follows a young brass band as they navigate performing all day in the high-energy opening celebrations of Carnival in Cologne, Germany.
It was also an "official selection" for a few other festivals that don't give awards but instead just pick their favorites to screen on the day/s of their festivals.
Emma will be graduating in December 2021 and is majoring in Film and Television Production while minoring in Studio Arts.
When I spoke with her online today, she wanted to give a huge shout-out and thanks to MDI High School's Jeff Zaman for starting her down the path of film making
I remember watching her Senior Exhibition at MDI High School and being blown away what she did then. Keep an eye on her, one day you'll see she's a winner of an Emmy or Oscar and we'll be able to say we knew her when!
