We love to see local kids do well! We especially love to see when they stay around and become part of the fabric of the community! Such is the case with Former Trojan Ben Wallace!

Ben has  been a member of the Mount Desert Fire Department! We all know how badly the local fire departments need volunteer and career firefighters!

According to the Mount Desert Fire Department's Facebook Page they announced today that Ben had been promoted to the position of Fire Lieutenant, effective December 15, 2022

On behalf of the Mount Desert Fire Department, I am pleased to announce the promotion of Firefighter Ben Wallace to Fire Lieutenant, effective December 15, 2022. First as an on-call firefighter in 2015, then as a career firefighter hired in 2016, Ben continues to have a passion for the job along with a caring for the community he serves. Throughout his career, Wallace has worked to obtain certifications that will benefit the department in his position of Lieutenant, including Firefighter I & II (through the Hancock County Firefighter Academy), Fire Instructor I & II, Hazmat Ops, FFT1, and most recently, has successfully completed an EMT-B class. Lt. Wallace will be assigned to serve as the B-Shift Duty Officer for MDFD. Congratulation Lt. Wallace!

Congratulations Ben! Stay safe and we look forward to your continued service to the Island Community!

If you have a desire to help your community, any fire department would love to talk with you. Reach out and see about serving in some capacity!

Note- Holy mistaken identity. In the earlier story I confused Ben Walls with Ben Wallace. I apologize for the confusion and will go drink more coffee
