Free throws paid off at MDI High School this year thanks to First National Bank's "First Hoop" Program. MDI received $2400 this season thanks to the First Hoop Program.

First National Bank awards a cash donation at every home court varsity basketball game for each participating school, the amount dependent on the outcome of a series of events. Fifty dollars is the base donation, automatically awarded at the start of every home varsity game. Fifty dollars more is added to the fund if the first hoop of the game is scored by the home team. And an additional fifty dollars is added if a randomly drawn spectator (also known as "The First Fan") successfully makes a free throw at half time.

According to Athletic Director Bunky Dow, the $2400 will be used to help provide $1000 in scholarships and then $1400 will be used for various purchases.
