Fire in Hancock – 23 Departments Respond

Last night there was a terrible fire in Hancock, on the Mud Creek Road. Unfortunately the house was a total loss, but no one was injured.

We have talked about the need for additional volunteers at our local fire departments. Our local departments are fighting fires  and responding to calls short handed. Luckily, there is a tremendous mutual aid compact among the agencies. One call to 9-1-1 last night resulted in the following agencies responding

- Winter Harbor Fire
- Eastbrook Fire

- Orland Fire
- Dedham Fire
- Penobscot Fire
- Northern Light Medical Transport
- Schoodic EMS
- Versant Power
- Hancock County Sheriffs Office
- Hancock County Regional Communications
- Washington County Regional Communications
- Penobscot County Regional Communications
- Bar Harbor Public Safety Dispatch

There were also a number of Fire Departments in the Western part of the County that the County Coordinator had stand by their stations in case another large incident happened.
