Finally the Last Day of School for Everyone in Downeast Maine

Whoa! What a L-O-N-G school year! Finally today, June 21st, the first day of summer, I believe that everyone in Downeast Maine will finally be out of school by the end of the day!

To all the teachers, I hope you have a great summer! You deserve the rest and relaxation. I know that many will be in the schools working during the summer, or taking courses. After all, teachers never really stop, and for that we are all thankful!

To the parents, I hope you have a great summer! Time goes by too fast, and your children are growing too quickly. Try to carve out some time and make memories. Memories don't have to cost a lot of money. You can go on a picnic, cookout, staycate, whatever, as long as you do it all together! To the kids, I hope you have a great summer. Try to get thru the weekend without saying "I'm bored!" Read a book, don't let your brain turn to mush this summer. Make your bed everyday. Cook a meal for your family. Spend time cuddling with your pets. Have a great summer

To all the drivers - Remember kids are out for the summer! Be watchful driving. We have way more traffic in the summer months with the tourists here than in the winter. Leave a little earlier for you destination. Put down the cellphone while driving!

To Mother Nature - You didn't give us a Spring! We forgive you. But now that it's summer we'd like a great summer. We deserve it! Nice warm days, "coolish" nights, and rain at night while we're asleep. It really isn't too much to ask is it?
