The Ellsworth Eagles are the State Class B Baseball Champions after defeating the Freeport Falcons 2-0 on Saturday afternoon, June 15th at St. Joseph's College in Standish Maine.

The PVC Pitcher and Player of the Year Matt Burnett held Freeport to just 3 hits, striking out 8 and walking 3, pitching the complete game.

The Falcons managed 1 single by Anthony Panciocco in the 2nd inning, by Blaine Cockburn in the 3rcd inning and Benjamin Monahan-Morang in the 5th inning. Freeport managed to get a runner to 3rd in the top of the 6th inning when Gabe Wagner walked and stole 2nd. Panciocco walked and then a double steal put Wagner at 3rd and Panciocco at 2nd. But Burnett then got Eriksen Shea to fly to left.

Ellsworth scored both runs in the top of the 5th. Tyler Mitchell started the inning with a single and Devin Grindle singled. Jackson Curtis singled driving in Mitchell. Grindle scored on a double steal with Curtis moving to 2nd.

Matt Burnett, Hunter Curtis, Riley Grindle and Conner Wagstaff all singled for Ellsworth.

The Eagles finish the season with a 19-1 record.
