An Ellsworth man is facing charges after allegedly threatening his girlfriend with a gun.

Ellsworth Police say a woman stopped by the police department at around 2:00 on the afternoon of December 26th. She told officers that her boyfriend had held a gun to her head, about an hour earlier, in the home they shared with him and two small children. She said he had threatened to kill her before she fled the residence with her kids, seeking refuge at a friend's house.

As a result of an investigation, 26-year-old Timothy Stanley was arrested, without incident, and charged with domestic violence criminal threatening and domestic assault. A search of the home turned up several weapons, which were removed. Police say additional charges are pending.

Ellsworth Police were assisted at the scene by Maine State Police Troopers.
