Congratulations to the Ellsworth Junior League Baseball Team, who are the Division 1 Champions after beating Machias 11-9 in a 6 inning game (called because of darkness) on Wednesday, July 24th. The Ellsworth Team will now play in the State Tournament at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor this weekend.

The team is coached by Michael Boles and Joe Gibbons. Team members include Miles Palmer, Wyatt Bragdon, Jacob Bagley, Brady Kenny, Sam Wagenknecht, Billy Garland, Hunter Boles, Peter Keblinsky, Aiden Gibbons, Drew Cote, and  Lucas Gagnon.

The team had to fight their way out of the loser's bracket after losing their 1st game. Here are the District 1 results for Ellsworth

  • Monday July, 15th Game 1: Lost to Coastal 4-2
  • Thursday July, 18th Game 2: Won at Calais 8-7
  • Friday July, 19th Game 3: Won at Coastal 8-0
  • Saturday July, 20th Game 4: Won vs. Acadia 14-0 in 5 innings
  • Monday July, 22nd Game 5: Won vs. Machias 13-2
  • Wednesday July, 24th Game 6: Won at Machias 11-9 in 6 Game shortened because of Darkness

Ellsworth will open the State Championship against Bangor Saturday at 1 at Mansfield Stadium. They then will play Standish at 4 PM. Bangor plays Standish Saturday night at 7 PM.  The top 2 teams will play on Sunday, July 28th at 1 PM. If both teams are tied with 1 loss, then the final game to determine the State Champion will be played at 4 PM, if necessary.
