Ellsworth Girls Run Past Foxcroft Academy 80-35

The Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team ran past the Foxcroft Academy Ponies 80-35 on Wednesday, January 29th on Senior Night, the last regular season game at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth. It was a game that saw senior Trinity Montigny score her 1000th point, a career high 42 points and freshman Morgan Clifford strike for 17 points with 5 3-pointers.

Ellsworth led 15-6 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Montigny had 11 with a 3-pointer, and Jocelyn Jordan and Alicia Kelley each had 2 points. For the Ponies Kiya Cook, Meghan Spooner and Ainsley Ade each had 2 points

In the 2nd Quarter Montingy made her 1000th point on a 3-pointer. She finished the Quarter with 10 points including 2 3-points. Morgan Clifford had 11 points with 3 3-pointes. Autumn Paul had 3 points and Casey Carter had 2 points. For Foxcorft Academy Kiya Cook had 5 points, and Ainsley Aide 2 points. The score was 41-13 at the end of the 1st Half

In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth outscored Foxcroft Academy 18-15 to take a 59-28 lead. Montigny had 12 points with her 4th 3-pointer of the night. Jocelyn Jordan, Casey Carter and Sierra Andrews each chipped in with 2 points. For the Ponies Cook had 6 points, Jenna Anderson a 3-pointer, and Meghan Spooner, Annie Raynes and Destiny Weymouth 2 points each.

In the 4th Quarter Montigny added 9 points for Ellsworth. Clifford had 2 more 3-pointers. Casey Carter had 5 points with a 3-pointer. Alicia Kelley had 1 point For the Ponies Abby Knapp had 2 points, Meghan Spooner 2 points and Justice Batchelder and Ainsley Ade each had 1 point.

Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny with 42 points. Morgan Clifford had 17 points and Casey Carter 9 points. The Eagles were 18-28 from the free throw line

Foxcroft Academy was led by Kiya Cook with 14 points.

Ellsworth, now 10-6 has 2 games remaining in the regular season. They play at Hermon on Friday, January 31st at 7 p.m. and then conclude the regular season on Wednesday, February 5th at MDI. Foxcroft Academy is 5-11 and will play host to Presque Isle on Saturday, February 1st
