Ellsworth Girls Nipped 54-52 in Presque Isle

The Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team was looking to win in Presque Isle for the first time in over a decade, and led by as many as 18 points before Presque Isle came roaring back in the 4th Quarter, outscoring Ellsworth 22-7 to nip the Eagles 54-53 on Friday, January 24th.

Ellsworth led 12-8 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 34-23 at the end of the 1st Half. The Eagles led 45-32 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny with 10 points while Samantha Carter, Sierra Andrews and Kayla Duhaime all had 9 points. The Eagles had 6 3-pointers, 3 by Carter, and 1 each by Ella Hubbard, Sara She and Sierra Andrews. Ellsworth was 8-15 from the free throw line, going 5-10 in the 4th Quarter.

Presque Isle was led by Faith Sjoberg with 19 points while Madison Michaud had 12 points and Maggie Castonguay had 10 points. The Wildcats had 3 3-pointers, 2 by Sjoberg and 1 by Madison Jeandreau. The Wildcats were 11-19 from the free throw line, going 7-9 in the 4th Quarter.

Ellsworth, now 11-4 plays at Caribou on Saturday, January 25th at 1PM.
