The Ellsworth Eagles Baseball Team won their 12th in a row, improving their record to 14-1, doubling up Hermon in Ellsworth 6-3 on Thursday afternoon.

Connor Wagstaff picked up the win, throwing 6 innings and Bradly Smith the 7th, picking up the save. Wagstaff allowed 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 of which were earned. He struck out 8 and walked 3. Smith walked 2 and struck out 2.

For Hermon Alex Applebee had a double and single. Keith Pomeroy had 2 singles and Cody Hawes had a single.  The Hawks scored 1 run in the top of the 1st, 1 in the top of the 3rd and 1 in the top of the 5th inning.

Jacques Labonte started the game for Hermon, pitching into the 7th inning. Keith Pomeroy finished the game. Combined they allowed 6 hits, striking out 6 and walking 4.

Ellsworth scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, with 2 out. They took advantage of a walk, 3 consecutive errors and a single by Devin Grindle, as they sent 9 batters to the plate. They scored 2 more runs in the 6th inning when Jackson Curtis doubled with 1 out, Grindle singled and Tyler Mitchell singled.

Curtis ended up 3-3 with a double and 2 singles. Grindle had 2 singles and Mitchell a single.

Ellsworth is in 1st place in the Class B North Heal Points, with 1 game left to play. They will host MDI on Tuesday, May 29th on Senior Recognition Day, at 4 PM. The game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Hermon is 8-5 and in 6th place. They play host to Presque Isle on Saturday, May 26th in a doubleheader at 12 Noon and 2 PM and finish the regular season on Tuesday, May 29th at Foxcroft Academy at 4:30 PM.
