Ellsworth Boys Beat Belfast 70-53 [Box Score/Stats]
The Ellsworth Boys Basketball Team improved to 5-5 after beating the Belfast Lions in Belfast on Monday morning, January, 15th, in a game that started at 11:30 AM.
The Eagles came out of the locker room and raced to a 20-8 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter, and led 35-24 at the end of the 1st Half. The lead was 48-38 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.
Ellsworth had 4 players in double figures. Jackson Curtis had 15 points, Zach Harris had 13 points, Dylan Taplin 12 points and Javon Williams 11 points. The Eagles were 7-16 from beyond the 3-point arc. Bradly Smith, Taplin, Harris each had 2 3-pointers while Devin Grindle had 1 3-pointer. The Eagles were 7-9 from the free throw line.
Norman Jodrey, called up to varsity for Ellsworth scored his first varsity points, going 2-2 from the free throw line.
Belfast was led by Dakota Doolan with a game high 14 points. Skylar Perkins had 9 points and Jason Bartlett had 7 points. The Lions were 4-11 from beyond the 3 point arc. Perkins had 2 3-pointers, and Stanley Sturgis and Aaron Fuller each had a 3-pointer. Belfast was 9-16 from the free throw line.
Ellsworth, 5-5 will play host to Washington Academy on Thursday, January 18th at 6:30 PM with the pregame starting at 6:15 and then at the Cross Insurance Center against John Bapst on Saturday, January 20th at 1PM with the pregame starting at 12:45.
