Ellsworth Baseball Rallies in 7th Inning Beats John Bapst 5-2
The Ellsworth Eagles played their 1st game of the soggy Spring on Thursday night, April 25th against the John Bapst Crusaders at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, with the Eagles rallying in the top of the 7th inning to beat John Bapst 5-2.
Eagles pitchers Conner Wagstaff and Matt Burnett combined for 19 Crusader strikeouts and limited John Bapst to 3 hits.
Ethan Newcomb had a double driving in a run. Ben Southwick and Ben Spear had John Bapst's other hits.
Trailing 2-1 going into the top of the 7th, Ellsworth batted around scoring 4 runs. The inning started with Matt Burnett lining a double. Conner Wagstaff walked, and Hunter Curtis singled driving in a run. Michael Palmer struck out looking and then Hunter Fernald singled driving in another run. Riley Grindle reached on a fielder's choice driving in a run. Tyler Mitchell singled driving in a run before Bapst pitchers were able to retire the side.
