The Ellsworth Softball Team's bats stayed hot on Friday, as the Eagles defeated the Washington Academy Raiders 18-6 in Ellsworth. The Eagles have averaged 13 runs a game in their first 5 games of the season!

One of the biggest hits was by Mariah Young who knocked in a 3-run homer (above) and went 3-4 with the homer and 2 singles. Hannah Sargent also banged out 3 hits, going 3-5 with a triple, double and single. Callie Hammer was 2-3 with 2 singles. Isabelle Perry was 2-4 with a RBI and Ellie Clarke's triple in the 6th inning drove in 2 runs to end the game (mercy rule).

Sammy Mason pitched the 1st 4 innings, allowing 3 hits and had 4 strike outs. Mackenzie Chipman pitched the last 2 innings for the Eagles, striking out 1 and allowing 4 hits.

Ellsworth now 4-1 will play host to Hermon on Monday, May 8th at 4:30 PM. The Hawks are a perfect 6-0 on the season.

Washington Academy is 2-3 on the season and were slated to play host to Orono on Saturday May 6th in a double header.
