EHS’ Cole and Goodman to Wrestle at New Englands

Congratulations to Ellsworth High School wrestlers, Peyton Cole and Trent Goodman who will be competing at the New England Tournament in Providence, Rhode Island this Friday and Saturday March 3rd-4th.

Junior Peyton Cole won the 152 # championship with a thrilling come from behind 15 to 13 victory over Quinton Richards of Nokomis. Trent Goodman placed 2^nd at 170 # losing a hard fought 4 to 2 decision to the tournament’s outstanding wrestler Robert Heatherman of Mt. Ararat/ Brunswick.

Sophomore Logan Lord placed 4^th losing a tough decision to his season long nemesis Steven Thompson of Medomak Valley by a score of 9 to 6. Lord’s only losses this year were to senior wrestlers.  Logan Lord is an alternate to the Tournament in Providence (Top 3 in each weight class make the tournament, with the 4th place finisher an alternate)

Judd Kinney also participated in the tournament losing to eventual champion Samson Sirois of Skowhegan in a first round match.
