Eagles Move to Semis Win 6-1

The 5th seeded Ellsworth Eagles traveled to Newport on Thursday, June 8th and beat the 4th seeded Nokomis Warriors in a Class B North Quarterfinal Game, by the score of 6-1. Ellsworth will now play the top-seeded Old Town Coyotes on Saturday afternoon, June 10th.

Matt Burnett pitched a complete game for the Eagles, allowing 4 hits, striking out 4 and walking 2.

Ellsworth scored 1 run in the top of the 3rd, and in the top of the 4th to make it 2-0. Nokomis scored a run in the bottom of the 4th to make the score 2-1. In the top of the 7th inning, Ellsworth batted around scoring 4 runs to make it 6-1.

For Ellsworth Sam Horne had 2 singles,  Brad Smith, Austin Baron, Jackson Curtis, Troy Folmer, Jared Hamilton and Sam Giffin each had a single, as Ellsworth banged out 8 hits.

For Nokomis Zachary Hartsgrove, Garrett Burke, Alexander Baird, and Cody Rice had singles.

Ellsworth is now 13-5. Nokomis finishes the season with a 14-3 record.
