Warning -  This is a crotchety old man rant, and disclaimer is not directed at any particular store. With that being said, let me just state I absolutely hate grocery shopping these days! If you're lucky there may be 2 check out lanes open, but a slew of self-serve check out lanes are available!

I head to the grocery store 4-5 times a week. I typically do 1 big shopping trip (during the school year) and then will stop and pick up odds and ends, things for dinner, fresh vegetables and fruit etc.

But it appears that there's no such thing as getting in and out quickly from the store, unless you want to self-check-out. But, let's face it, I'm almost 59 years old. I really don't want to look up 5 or 6 PLUs (price look ups). I'm not getting a discount by checking out myself. I want to hand you my coupons, have you bag my groceries in my recyclable bags! I want you to say thanks for shopping here, and I want to say thanks for bagging, and have a nice day.

I know it's hard to find help. I know people call out sick. But you know what, the places that are going to get my business are the ones that overcome, that call in extra help. They smile and treat me like a customer, not just someone handing them money. They appreciate my business.
