
Councilor Gary Friedman to Resign from Bar Harbor Town Council
In the wake of Councilor Kyle Shank's resignation from the Bar Harbor Town Council, the Mount Desert Islander is reporting that Councilor Gary Friedman will submit his resignation at the Tuesday January 21st Bar Harbor Town Council Meeting.
Friedman who was reelected to the Council in June was also elected to the Maine House, District 14.
Councilor Friedman told the Islander that he was resigning to devote more time to his legislative duties.
The Bar Harbor Town Council will appoint replacements for Shank and Friedman to serve until the June election. These replacements will be voting and helping to craft the 2025-26 Municipal budget.
In the June 2025 election, there will be 2 seats open, those of Councilors Matt Hochman and Ear Brechlin and then 1 seat to fill the 1-year remaining on Councilor Shank's seat and 1 seat to fill the 2-years remaining on Councilor Friedman's seat.
