
Deer Isle-Stonington High School Announces Class of 2026 Honor Parts
Deer Isle-Stonington High School Principal Rebecca Gratz announced the Class of 2026 Honor Parts.
In an all-school assembly Principal Gratz addressed the Class of 2026 saying "We are so proud of all of you and honor your strengths, accomplishments and achievements over the past 4 years." She added that the 4 students selected for the honor parts "have demonstrated dedication and diligence in all of their classes over the course of their high school careers. It is a recognition of their hard work and perseverance in learning and leadership."
Iris Aldrich - Valedictorian
Iris Aldrich has earned the distinction of Class Valedictorian through hard work, perseverance, and the pursuit of academic excellence. Iris has been an active and engaged student leader as well, serving as class treasurer for four years and as vice president of the National Honor Society for the past two years. In addition to her academic and service focus, Iris has been involved in productions at the REACH Performing Arts Center. Iris received the Yale Book Award her junior year and has earned honors with highest distinction throughout all four years of high school. Iris
is attending Mt. Holyoke College in the fall.
Sierra Larrabee - Salutatorian
Sierra Larrabee currently pursues her passion for biomedical sciences at Hancock County Technical Center (HCTC), where she excels in her studies. Sierra not only participates in programming at HCTC, she also takes dual enrollment courses through the Bridge Program at Ellsworth High School. A thoughtful and diligent student, Sierra is also a compassionate citizen, and possesses endless potential. What truly sets Sierra apart is her extraordinary ability to persevere in the face of adversity. Sierra will attend the fast track Radiology program at EMCC next fall.
Rosalie Bayley - 1st Honor Essayist
Rosalie Bayley is a motivated and committed student, a talented artist, and an active community member. In addition to her academic pursuits, Rosalie is a commissioned, published artist who shares her creativity with our community not only through visual arts, but through the performing arts as well as an integral part of productions at the REACH Performing Arts Center. Rosalie demonstrates her commitment to community through her involvement with the Garden Project in Stonington as well as volunteering with Island Angels. Rosalie will attend either Lesley University or Wheaton College in the fall.
Samuel Robbins - 2nd Honor Essayist
Sam Robbins is an active, engaged and deeply motivated student who has pursued academic excellence. In addition to his academics and school leadership, Sam embraces and leads through his strong musical talents and deep love for local traditions and folklore has driven him to become a multi-instrumentalist. Sam also leads intergenerational musicians in playing music for local square and contra dances, an effort that strengthens community connections and keeps local heritage alive. Sam has found ways to build connections through community suppers and square dances. Sam will attend Maine Maritime Academy in the fall.
