After 3 or 4 days with temperatures bordering 90 degrees it's hard to believe that 6 months from today, it will be Christmas! The stockings will have been hung with care, Santa will have visited your house and eaten the cookies and drank the milk. Presents will be under the tree and hopefully there will be some snow on the ground!

The City of Ellsworth now through the end of July will be conducting a Toy Drive. A collection box is located at the City Hall Main Entrance, and the City Clerk's Office is accepting monetary donations if you are so inclined.

All donations will be saved for the upcoming Holiday Season.

This year looks to be challenging for many. Fuel costs bordering on $6.00 a gallon will make it difficult for many to heat their homes, and with the cost of gasoline, the cost of food and medicine, people's paychecks just aren't going to go as far as they used to go.

The one thing that I have been constantly amazed at over the nearly 37 years that I have lived in Maine is the generosity of Mainers and their willingness to step up and help those in need. Anything that you can do to help our friends and neighbors in need will be most appreciated.

And think cool thoughts! Remember 5 months until Christmas so if you aren't on Santa's good list...That should be on your to do list!
