The Boston Red Sox lost for just the 2nd time in 10 games, as the bullpen allowed 4 runs in the 6th and 7th innings and the Red Sox fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 7-4 on Wednesday night, August 15th.

Nathan Eovaldi had a bounce back start, allowing just 3 runs in 5 innings. He gave up 7 hits, striking out 5 and not allowing a walk. Of the 3 runs, only 1 was earned as 2 scored as a result of Rafael Devers' 21st error of the season.

Joe Kelly took the loss allowing a run in the 6th inning and Drew Pomeranz allowed Philly to score 3 insurance runs in the 7th on 4 hits.

Brock Holt was 2-3 and Mitch Moreland had a double, driving in 3 runs for the Red Sox.

The New York Yankees lost to Tampa Bay so the Red Sox remain 10 games ahead of the 2nd place Yankees.

The Red Sox are off on Thursday, before opening a series in Fenway against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday, with the pregame starting at 6:20 and 1st pitch at 7:05 on AM 1370 WDEA
