On a day when the Boston Red Sox placed ace pitcher Garrett Crochet on the injured list with left-shoulder inflammation, Brayan Bello struggled again on the mound, and the Red Sox lost to the Blue Jays 8-1.

Bello lasted just 3.2 innings, allowing 6 hits and 4 runs, striking out 2 and walking 2. His record is now 1-4 and is ERA has ballooned to 9.12.

Greg Weissert who was called in for relief added flames to the fire allowing 2 hits and 2 runs, striking out 1 in recording 2 outs.

Boston's lone run came on Willson Contreras' 7th home run in the 1st inning. Contreras ended the day 2-4.

Wilyer Abreu was 2-3 Trevor Story had a double, and was 1-3. Roman Anthony was 1-4. Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Marcelo Mayer and Caleb Durbin each had a single.

Boston only walked twice, and were 1-8 with runners in scoring position. They left 9 runners on base.

Boston is now 12-19 and the Blue Jays improved to 14-16.
