Boston’s Bullpen Allows Walk-Off Homer Lose to Astros 5-4 [VIDEO]

The Boston Red Sox's bullpen allowed the tying run in the bottom of the 8th and the winning run in the bottom of the 9th inning as the Houston Astros beat the Boston Red Sox 5-4 on Monday night.

Kenly Jensen took the loss, retiring the 1st batter he faced on 3 straight strikes, but Yainer Diaz hit the game-winning homer on the 1st pitch he faced in the bottom of the 9th.

Tanner Houck started for the Red Sox and gave the BoSox 6.0 innings, allowing 8 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 8 and didn't walk a batter.

Chris Martin pitched a scoreless 7th, striking out 3 batters and allowing 2 hits.

Jarren Duran started the scoring for the Red Sox, hitting a leadoff homer to left, on the 1st pitch he saw in the 1st inning.

Rob Refsnyder was 2-4

Masataka Yoshida pinch-hitting was 1-2, driving in 2 runs.

The Red Sox struck out 10 times and left 5 runners on base.

Boston and Houston will play the 2nd game of the 3-game series on Tuesday night, with the pregame starting at 7:10 p.m. and 1st pitch at 8:10 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA.
