Jake Bennett's Impressive Debut Leads Red Sox Past Astros

It was a night of firsts for the Boston Red Sox, with Chad Tracy managing his 1st game at Fenway Park and Jake Bennet making his major league debut. It was all good, as the Boston Red Sox beat the Houston Astros 3-1.

Bennett, who was called up to replace Garrett Crochet who is on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation, went 5.0 innings allowing 5 hits an a run, walking 2 and struck out 3. He's now 1-0. According to the Red Sox, Bennett is now the 7th Red Sox all-time and 1st since Juan Pena on May 8 1999 to start and allow 1 run or fewer, while earning the win in their debut at Fenway!

Zack Kelly pitched 1.2 innings and Danny Coulombe recorded thefinal 2 outs in the 7th inning. Garrett Whitlock pitched the 8th inning and Aroldis Chapman picked up his 6th save, pitching the 9th inning.

Jarren Duran hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 3rd. The homer snapped a 0-15 streak.

Roman Anthony was 3-4 with a pair of singles and a double.

Marcelo Mayer was 1-4 extending his hitting streak to 9 games.

Trevor Story was 2-4 with a pair of singles.
